Honor Flight Lowcountry to fly WW2 vets to memorial

Honor Flight Lowcountry to fly WW2 vets to memorial

Honor Flight Lowcountry is seeking World War Two veterans who would like to visit the World War II Memorial on April 2. Honor Flight is also seeking applications for guardians, or escorts, who would like to accompany the veterans on this special day.

Honor Flight Lowcountry is an all volunteer organization that was founded in June of 2009 for the purpose of taking WWII veterans to visit their memorial at no expense to the veterans.  The memorial was not completed until 2004. Because of the veteran’s age and stage in life, most would not undertake such a trip on their own.

Over 500 Lowcountry veterans have visited the memorial on the five previous Honor Flights from Charleston.

Veterans and guardian applications can be found at their website. Guardians are asked to donate $500 for the privilege of escorting the veterans.
