Mix of sun and clouds will take charge of the forecast for Wednesday. Temps started mild in the upper 60s but will quickly warm through the 70s to an afternoon high around 85°. There will be some pop up storms later this afternoon along the seabreeze so keep an eye on the radar after lunch to see if you will need the umbrella. Rain chance today us around 40-50% away from the beaches.

Morning showers and a few areas of thunder continue across the Lowcountry early on Tuesday. We will see just about a repeat of yesterday with warm and muggy temps in the lower 80s. With the sea breeze moving inland later around noon, more storms will pop up and keep some of us wet into the afternoon drive. Rain could be heavy at times. Storm chances today are around 60%.

Monday is starting warm and muggy and we are already seeing scattered showers and storms developing. There will be more around by early afternoon.  A few storms may produce frequent lightning and heavy rain.  Highs will be in the low 80s.  Rain chances today are over 60% so keep the umbrella handy.

Relay For Life events scheduled for Friday night

Relay For Life events scheduled for Friday night

CHARLESTON, S.C.(WCSC) - A number of Relay For Life Events are scheduled for the month of May throughout the Lowcountry, and two of them will take place this evening.

Relay For Life works to raise money for the American Cancer Society to help fund cancer research, provide a place for family’s to stay during cancer treatments, and much more.

Relay events can last up to 24-hours, and each relay team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times.

Each event begins with an Opening Ceremony, followed by a Survivor Lap and Caregiver Lap. These laps honor those who have beat cancer, along with those who helped them along the way.

Today look for a good deal of sunshine early in the day on Friday with increasing clouds during the afternoon.  A very isolated storm will fire up well inland along the sea breeze during the late afternoon.  Temps today will top the upper 80s inland and near 80 along the coast.

Beaufort Co. woman in running for top prize on American Idol

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC)- Tonight is the night America will decide if a young woman from St. Helena Island in Beaufort County will be the next American Idol.

Lowcountry native Candice Glover wowed judges with her performance Wednesday night.

She sang a total of three songs, including  "I, Who Have Nothing"  and her own original single, "I Am Beautiful."

The 23-year-old is up against Kree Harrison from Texas.

Live 5 News will be in Beaufort at the watch party Thursday night for the idol finale at the Highway 21 Drive-In Theater on 55 Parker Drive.

Raphael James will be live at the event starting at 7 p.m.

Expect mostly sunny skies with just a few more afternoon clouds around for our Thursday. It will also be a bit more on the humid side. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s. A few backyards may even make it over the 90° mark. Friday and into the weekend, not much change, but there is a little better chance for afternoon showers and storms.
